In summer 2025, Houston will once again become the global capital of inclusive soccer. From July 27 to August 2, over 30 teams from around the world will gather at Rice University to participate in the Genuine World Cup — a one-of-a-kind tournament celebrating athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

But the Genuine Cup is more than just a competition. It’s a week-long journey of cultural exchange, friendship, learning, and joy. Here’s what’s in store for this transformative week:

🛬 Sunday, July 27 — Teams Arrive & The Adventure Begins

Excitement kicks off as teams touch down in Houston from across the globe — including clubs like Manchester United Foundation, Club América, Ajax, PSG, and many others. The welcoming atmosphere sets the tone for a week of unity and celebration.

🚀 Monday, July 28 — NASA Visit: Exploring Space, Exploring Dreams

The first full day takes the players on an unforgettable journey to the NASA Johnson Space Center. For many, it's a first-time experience, blending science and wonder as they learn about human achievement in space — and dream beyond limits.

⚾ Midweek Nights — An American Baseball Experience

On July 28th and July 29th, players will experience an authentic American pastime with a night at Daikin Park, home of the Houston Astros. It's an evening of baseball, stadium lights, and memories made.

🧠 Tuesday, July 29 — Genuine Connect 2025 Summit

While the athletes enjoy a day of rest and bonding, Rice University hosts Genuine Connect, a global leadership summit focused on inclusion through sport and employment.
This event features major companies like Chevron, EY, and H‑E‑B alongside trailblazing entrepreneurs with intellectual disabilities. Through panels and storytelling, Genuine Connect highlights how neurodiversity is a powerful tool for innovation and positive change.

⚽ Wednesday, July 30 – Friday, August 1 — Let the Games Begin

The Genuine Cup tournament officially begins with Group Stage matches hosted at Rice University's Intramural Fields, building toward knockout rounds and dramatic finishes.
With matches held every morning and evening, spectators can expect world-class sportsmanship and team spirit at its most authentic.

🕗 Typical Match Times:

• Morning: 8:00 – 11:20
• Evening: 17:10 – 20:30

🎉 Friday, August 1 — Finals & The Genuine Party

The week concludes with Final Stage matches at the iconic Rice Stadium, where champions will be crowned.
But win or lose, every player is a hero. That evening, all teams will gather for the Genuine Party — a vibrant closing celebration at Rice University’s Quad, featuring food, music, dancing, and heartfelt goodbyes.
